Food for the Soul Lecture: Vegetarianism and Spirituality and Sacred Fire Ceremony

12 June @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Great Ceremony of the Sacred Fire

In Yajurveda, fire is described as the divine symbol of the power of life and purification, because in addition to being the only element capable of purifying everything and at the same time always remaining pure, fire is a portal of communication between us and the gods.

The purification process of the participants takes place through offerings made with a mixture of grains of rice, herbs and ghee, accompanied by the word “svaha”, which means “I offer myself”. The grains represent our own being (soul, body, karmas, samskaras, desires, etc.) that will be symbolically offered to the fire in order to be completely purified.

You can also set an intention or make a request at the end of the ceremony, aiming to obtain a specific blessing. Fire ceremonies are performed as part of weddings, baptisms, inaugurations, the beginning of construction, the opening of temples, homes and commercial establishments, spiritual initiations, worship of God, or simply when one wishes to invoke auspiciousness and provide purification for all participants.

The fire ceremonies performed by Swami Mahavir, also known as Agni Hotra, Yagya or Havan, are performed following an ancient ritual pattern, ensuring their full effectiveness.
